If you or I steal money, it is theft. We get taken to court, and get fined or go to prison.
- When MPs do it, it is an “accounting error“.
- When Cabinet Ministers do it, it is “not a good look“.
- And when banks do it, it is a “contingent liability“.

Theft is not theft.
Theft is only theft if you’re poor and brown. If you’re rich and white then it’s merely an accounting problem.
In other words, New Zealand is an inegalitarian racist country.
Theft is only a crime when you get caught, are not an MP-Bank-Mate etc & can’t afford a good lawyer
