In a rush to wait

So, watching the Parliamentary debate today, I heard that the “probationary period” bill that National is fighting so hard to rush through under urgency apparently doesn’t even take effect until the first of April1. Why bother to ram the legislation through without consultation just so you can sit around twiddling your thumbs waiting for it to take affect for four months? Surely we could use some of those months for a select committee?

National’s excuses for passing this law under urgency are getting thinner and thinner, and looking more like PR management than actually doing their duty to the country during harder economic times.

1There was also talk of the Bill being an April Fools’ Joke. 😉
